Did You Know ?
Kircubbin Integrated Primary school transformed to its integrated status in September 1998. We are situated on the shores of Strangford Lough in Co. Down. We have a current enrolment of 152 pupils and are determined to embrace the new technologies that all schools need.
In April 2012 work was completed on our new school extension with two new classrooms for P2 and P3. This follows the extension completed in 2009 when our assembly hall/gym and P1 classroom were completed. The existing school building was extensively refurbished during summer 2009 with the four classrooms being modernised.
The Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 (P1-P3) have access to a dedicated play area in the new extension which will be used to develop play based learning. Our provision for outdoor play is also extremely well resourced.
The school is equipped with a dedicated computer suite/library and all classrooms have Interactive Whiteboards! Each class is also linked to the school network via computers in each room.
Our After School Club runs from 2pm (P1-P3) or 3pm (P4-P7). The children enjoy a wide range of activities including creative play, art and craft, table top games, rest area, indoor and outdoor games, gardening, drama, reading, computers, music etc. Outings e.g. Mookie World and Paint Me Glaze Me are arranged at no additional cost and members enjoy trips to the adjoining play park as well as our extensive school grounds - sand pit, climbing frame, playground games, football pitch, soft play area etc.

Our lottery funded Jungle Gym is now completed. The children can use this amazing facility at break and lunch time as well as after school. The teachers even bring classes out to burn off extra steam between lessons. It's a great way to keep fit.
|
We have purchased the Promethean Activote system. This state of the art technology allows the pupils to completely interact during the lesson using their individual pod. They can give their answers to many questions thus allowing all pupils to answer instead of picking out only one. It has proved extremely popular! We also have the ACTIView system to accompany our interactive whiteboards. This allows pupils to share their work with the rest of the class by displaying his/her work easily on the whiteboard. They can then discuss what they have been doing.

| From September 2012 we will be employing 7 teachers. This is possible due to recent rapid growth and an excellent financial position. The teachers will be Mrs Cusick, Mr Jonhston, Mrs Goudy, Miss Quinn, Miss Donaghy, Miss Clarke, and Mrs Kerr. |
